Character Descriptions

The Reign of the Ghost Master – Character Descriptions


Ghost Master – The namesake of a video game, through which the young people are led on an adventure.  He is the mysterious master who reveals the kids’ steps and their ultimate destinies through riddle.  He is also a master of disguise.

Mitch – Callie’s fraternal twin brother, who is excited about everything but sometimes speaks before thinking.  He is a 9th grader who is pulled into the adventure in the video game. 

Callie – Mitch’s fraternal twin sister, who is a practical honor student.  She is a 9th grade bookworm who is not as used to adventure as Mitch; but nonetheless, she becomes entangled in the same game as her brother.

Mom – The hardworking single mom of Mitch and Callie.  She is strong and compassionate. 

Auggie – The Australian adventurer who is 16 years old and loves the challenge of the game.  He is outgoing, fun-loving, brave, and a good friend.

Sailor Frederico, Sailor Lucio, Sailor Antonio, Sailor Marco – Young Spanish sailors on the Columbus’s Santa Maria, who discover the kids swimming in the sea.

Jordan – A 9th grade girl who feels socially inept and is tentative in many aspects of her life.  She accidentally “falls” into the game.

Claudia – A Roman matron on her way to the Colosseum games with her slaves.

Faustina, Octavia, Mila, Vita – The young slaves of Claudia.

Roman Statue – The statue of Juno, the Roman goddess, who is the wife of Jupiter.

Priscilla, Livia, Horatia – Young Roman girls attending a gladiator contest at the Colosseum.

Godfrid – A robust Viking guard with a quirky sense of humor.

Eona, Disa, Astrid, Sabina – Viking women of the village who care for the encampment.

Ikol – The Ghost Master’s nemesis in disguise as a young boy, 16 years old, who tries to lead the children astray from completing the game’s adventure.

Ayita – A take-charge, strong-willed, outspoken 15-year old girl with a good heart toward the other kids who have been drawn into the game with her.

Grandmother – Wounded Native American on the Trail of Tears who speaks in Cherokee.

Ama, Usdi – Young Native American women who try to assist Grandmother on the Trail of Tears.

Native Americans – Members of a Cherokee tribe forced to walk the Trail of Tears to the Native American reservation, set aside for them by the 1830’s US government.

Chief – Chief of the Cherokee tribe on the Trail of Tears.

Captain – Officer in charge of moving the Native Americans along the Trail of Tears.

Lieutenant – The Captain’s 2nd in command.

Soldier Higgins – A US soldier along the Trail of Tears who is kind to Grandmother.

Soldier Wilson – A US soldier along the Trail of Tears who does not approve of Soldier Higgins’ kindness.

Thomas – A young English orphan, 14 years old, who faces his fears and recognizes the value of friendship.

King Arthur – The ruler in charge of the knights who is kind to the kids in the game.

Sir Bedivere, Sir Percivale, Sir Tristan, Sir Gareth, & Knights of the Round Table – Arthur’s knights who are eager to fight and are contemplating rebellion.
